Hotel Casa 400
In 2008 I participated in The fashion Atelier of Pal West, organized by Young Designers/. For half a year we worked with 50 youngsters on a big event. For the event, called ‘We Were Here’ I made a few pieces for the fashion show, inspired by everyday objects. Including an evening dress made of cleaning wipes, a bag in the shape of an old iron bucket, the dumpster-dress and the blabla sweater.
Young Designers/ works with teams of designers, artists, scientists and other professionals on subjects that are living in society. By means of close contact with the people around them, they create new insights, which they want to make available for a big amount of people.
In the beginning of 2009 Museum Boijmans van Beuningen asked Pal West to make an exhibition. Together with Josefine Smid and Tobias Krasenberg we designed an exposition about the process of a fashion show, using the clothes that were made for the fashion show ‘We Where Here’ in 2008. The exhibition was part of the big exhibition ‘Art of Fashion’; where 25 international designers showed their designs (i.a.Victor & Rolf, Walter van Beirendonck en Martin Margiela). The exhibition was on from September 2009 till February 2010.
November 2008, I was asked to participate in a collaboration between Pal West and Hotel Casa 400 in Amsterdam. The hotel had a new building and needed new uniforms. With three other teenagers and Anneloes Ouwehand we designed the new uniforms for the staff. Every department has their own color composition.
